No-exam life insurance
Who gets expedited underwriting approval, the mechanics of the process, and what happens if you don't qualify.
A growing number of carriers provide expedited underwriting: if you fall within specified age and coverage limits, they make a decision by analyzing your application, medication history, driving record, and similar information instead of scheduling a medical examination. Approvals can happen the same business day. Each quote on this site shows whether an exam is mandatory, conditional, or unnecessary for that specific offer.
What it changes
Moving forward without an exam doesn't bypass thorough evaluation. Your statements must be accurate, and policies issued on false information can be voided within two years. If additional information from the carrier's investigation warrants an exam, they can order one; it's your call whether to continue.
Who tends to qualify
Usually individuals below age 60 who want coverage up to their carrier's expedited maximum, with no significant medical issues and a year or more without tobacco. Certain carriers will use recent lab work or medical records from a doctor's visit in place of a new exam.
An exam, if needed, typically involves a 20 to 30-minute appointment at your place in the Hawthorne region, conducted by a paramedical professional, at no charge to you. In many cases, test results can actually bump you into a better rate class if you're in good health, making the exam beneficial rather than a burden.
